Extreme Weather: How We Respond
Expanding our reach after a successful quarter.
White Marsh – At High Mark Construction, we’re reflecting on one of our most successful quarters to date while looking forward to expanding our reach.
The Summer is notorious for its excessive rain, hurricanes, and intrusive weather. Particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region, homeowners are often engaged in a battle to keep the outside out. With a massive storm hitting the region in July, we’ve seen a recent increase in volume which, thanks to our team growth and a newest office opening in Delaware, we’ve responded with efficiency. The months of July and August broke company records with the number of homeowners we were able to help with our services.
Our owner, Mike Kimball attributes our ability to handle the increased volume of work that excessive weather brings to our reach in new markets and our ability to promote from within. He reports that recent promotions include six senior project managers and 3 executive project managers, speaking to the upward mobility that working at High Mark Construction allows. Mike said, “the biggest thing is that this industry has a ton of turnover. We’re really proud of our ability to retain really good people and support them.”
Mike cites one of the keys to our continued success is the value we place on internal advancement opportunities. “You come on board here, you’re gonna be the one that gets the opportunity to grow into management,” he said. “ For us, the customer is the most important thing. As a leadership team, as an owner, my customers are our employees.”
Moving into the winter months, Mike doesn’t expect much of a decrease in the number of homeowners we help. We intend to continue building on what’s been working for us, namely by moving more into the commercial space and multi-family dwellings. We also intend to continue adding to the team, particularly in the first quarter of 2023 with the addition of a fourth location yet to be announced.
